Meet Steven Alves.
A Woodbridge neighbor, father, and community advocate with more than 30 years of service to District 5.

I've lived in Woodbridge for more than 30 years, long enough to raise two kids here, coach youth soccer, volunteer for over 14 years in the Scouting program, and watch this community grow. My wife Connie and I met at St John Neumann church in Woodbridge, married in 1995, and built our life together in the same neighborhood that's now at the heart of District 5. We will celebrate our 30th anniversary in November.
Our son and daughter grew up playing at the Woodbridge lagoons, going to University Park Library, swimming at Blue Lake swim club, and enjoying the other wonderful amenities that Woodbridge has to offer. Both of our children attended public schools here and graduated from Woodbridge High School, and each got their first jobs in this village. Our son went through Cub Scout Pack 654 at Meadowpark Elementary and earned his Eagle rank with Troop 675 at Light of Christ in University Park, and our daughter was involved in the choral program at WHS. Both are now college graduates and hoping to settle down in our wonderful community.
In my career, I've spent over 30 years in the global shipping and logistics industry. Success in my career has hinged upon having a high level of diplomatic skills, including listening to and negotiating with business partners in over 50 countries around the world. My work has required a keen understanding of different cultures and practices. I believe that these skills are needed on Irvine's City Council right now.
I am running for City Council because our residents deserve a representative who brings an understanding of the district that comes from more than 30 years of living in and serving this community, and someone who can provide disciplined leadership and fiscal restraint on the council.
Until recently, I served as Chief of Staff to Irvine Vice Mayor James Mai. I have been actively involved in policy analysis, I am fully up to date on current projects citywide, and I have been extensively out in the community directly engaging with residents and supporting Irvine businesses. I will be ready on day one to go to work for you.
I would be honored to earn your vote.
